During National Safety Month, Matrix Design Group, LLC wrapped up an impactful week at the 2026 Kentucky Mining Institute (KMI) Mine Rescue Contest in Lexington, Kentucky, an event dedicated to advancing emergency preparedness and strengthening the skills that protect miners every day.
The KMI Mine Rescue Contest brings together highly trained mine rescue teams and safety professionals focused on a shared mission of ensuring every miner returns home safely. Over several days, teams demonstrate readiness through realistic, high-pressure scenarios that test technical expertise, coordination, and decision-making in emergency conditions.
Recognizing the Teams Who Protect the Industry
Matrix had the privelege to sponsor and present multiple Field Competition awards, including:
- Day 1: First-place awards for Coal and Metal or Non-Metal divisions
- Day 2: First-place awards for Coal and Metal or Non-Metal divisions
- Championship: First, second, and third place across both divisions
The teams competing represent the highest level of commitment to mine rescue, training continuously to respond when every second matters.
