Matrix recently wrapped up three days at the 2026 NSC Safety Congress & Expo in Indianapolis. At Booth #931, our team showcased AI-driven sensor fusion and connected worker technology while speaking directly with the safety professionals responsible for protecting workers every day.
Those conversations offered more than event feedback. They highlighted how industrial organizations are approaching workplace safety, near-miss visibility, proximity detection, and connected safety systems.
What We Heard from Safety Leaders at 2026 NSC Safety Congress
Several themes surfaced repeatedly throughout the event. Safety leaders are not looking for another standalone sensor. They want integrated systems that connect existing safety data and deliver a clear, actionable signal. The goal is to identify risk before an incident occurs rather than document it afterward.
Interest in connected worker and proximity detection technology extended across the industries represented at the booth, including warehousing, heavy industrial environments, and underground mining operations. Many attendees also emphasized the need for better visibility into near misses. These events often go untracked, yet they can reveal emerging hazards before a recordable incident occurs.
Turning Operational Challenges into Safer Outcomes
“What stood out to me this week was how specific people got,” said Jackson Phillips, Account Manager at Matrix. “It wasn’t small talk. People were walking up ready to talk through an actual blind spot on their floor or a near-miss that shook their team, and asking real questions about how our technology would handle it. Those are the conversations that turn into real partnerships, and we had a lot of them.”
The conversations reflected a broader shift in how organizations evaluate safety technology. Instead of focusing only on individual product features, safety leaders are looking for measurable outcomes and partners who understand the realities of their operations.
“NSC Congress is always a good gut check on where the market is headed, and this year confirmed something we’ve felt building for a while,” said Mike Robinson, VP of Industrial Sales at Matrix. “Safety leaders aren’t just buying technology anymore, they’re buying outcomes. That’s exactly the conversation we want to be having, and it’s a strong signal for where our industrial pipeline is headed.”
